The Bergischer Löwe is a 5/8", Spanish point, full hollow blade hand crafted of high carbon steel in Solingen Germany. I measured the width to be 11/16 which is always a nice bonus. It features a beautiful 24k gold etching on the spine and tang with a frosted etching on the hollow grind.
The scales are buffalo horn with a third pin. Since this is a natural material, color tone and patterns will make each and every set unique. They are gorgeous and definitely worth owning. The Bergischer Löwe takes a fine edge once properly dialed in and gives for a nice and close shave. The tang is a bit on the thin side for my personal taste and I wish it had a bit more heft to it. Regardless, this is one of Dovo's finest and they are excellent razors for beginners or seasoned straight razor users.
Dovo razors come standard with a factory edge but are nowhere near a true professionally honed razor's edge. Having honed thousands of factory send Dovo razors I advise you to either purchase the razor from a reputable store that sells the razor as 'shave ready' or you can order a honing service straight from my web site to have it professionally honed/sharpened especially if you are starting out with your first straight razor shave.
